A day at the races is a pretty big event in the summer calendar not least because working out your race day outfit is very exciting. There’s nothing quite like knowing you can adorn yourself in head-to-toe glamour without looking too overdressed. So, what options should you be considering for this momentous of fashion occasions?
Nothing speaks classic femininity quite like a dress. Floor-sweeping maxi dresses are a great start but make sure they come in a statement print to give them that wow factor. Bold florals work everytime!
A ‘50s-inspired prom dress is a flattering pick, like the two prom dresses modelled by our lovely Evans fit model, will really make the most of your curves. If you do go for one of the nipped-in waist styles then partner it with a bolero cardigan or jacket. They’re great for keeping warm and giving a stylish bit of coverage.
For ultra sophistication and style appeal, then a dress from our Clements Ribeiro Swan collection is a fabulous choice. Defined by quirky, conversational prints the dresses are designed exclusively for the fuller figured female. You’re bound to feel a million dollars wearing one of these luxurious pieces.
If you’re going to be out and about all day then getting your accessories right is a must. A bag that’s big enough for all your essentials but not too cumbersome when you’re walking through the crowds is important. And so is a pair of ladylike and comfortable shoes. Fortunately heels and flats work well on this most special of occasions.
Now you’ve picked your perfect outfit, let’s hope you can pick a winner!
We all want our wardrobes to work a little harder, so we’re bringing you 4 ways to wear one key piece. This week we’re looking how to style the maxi dress. Here’s how to take one great dress and turn it into 4 different looks, for lots of occasions.
A key wardrobe staple, like a maxi dress, is so versatile and will become your new best friend and a hard working piece of your summer wardrobe. Change the look from day to night, bright and bold to muted and classic or smart to casual, with clever accessories, shoes and even your lingerie.
Look 1: Add a white bolero, wedge sandals and a statement cuff bracelet to create a stylish, day to night look. Perfect for the office or even the bar. Emphasis and define your cleavage with your lingerie for added oomph.
Look 2: Cinch in your waist with a thick belt and add sparkle and a cover up to make sure your maxi look party-ready. From a night in the pub to date night, this look will make you feel great.
Look 3: Go laid back and relaxed with casual, nude toned sandals and a comfy waterfall cardigan. This look would work just as well for the school run as it would for a family dinner out.
Look 4: Be bold and add a splash of colour to the tribal print maxi dress with coral jewellery and sandals. By teaming this with a white cardigan, this look just shouts ‘Spring’!

One trend that won’t go away is the maxi. Either as a dress or a skirt, the maxi length will be with us again for spring and summer. While some people love the maxi skirt, some aren’t sure how to wear it or if it will suit their shape or height. We think a plus size maxi skirt can work on all body shapes and heights. Here are a few outfit ideas of how to pull off the maxi this spring.
Black Pleated Jersey Maxi Skirt
Teamed with casual jersey pieces, like this slub t-shirt, you can create a cool and casual look. Add a classic denim jacket and casual slip-on shoes, and this look is comfortable and stylish. Perfect for the school run, a shopping trip or lunch out with friends.
Grey Pleated Jersey Maxi Skirt
Silver Jewel Detail Wedge Sandals
For a slightly less casual, but still as stylish, take on the maxi skirt, why not teams with a light-weight floral shirt and pretty sandals. The shirt can be tucked in to add definition to the waist, perfect for hourglass, pear or busty shapes, and worn loose, will skim over tummys, making it work for apples too. The silver sandals add some glitz and floral accessories add to the fresh, spring feel of the look.
How would you wear your maxi skirt?
Pop superstar and curvy icon, Adele, was the star attraction at last night’s 2012 Grammy Awards in LA. She wore an array of stunning black dresses, from a delicately sparkling, embellished, sash-detail dress on the red carpet, to a dramatic, sweeping gown in the press room while holding her 6 Grammy awards, to her polka dot and sheer 60s inspired dress that wowed when she took to the stage to perform one of her award-winning songs.
We’ve taken inspiration from Adele’s glamourous all-black red carpet looks and listed some of our favourite little black dresses which will make sure you’re red carpet ready.

While we were all getting ready for spring, winter seems to have crept back up on us. Our dreams of spring colours and summer dresses might have to be put on hold for a bit longer, but we’ve got to admit that we’re enjoying wearing some of our favourite Evans winter warmers again.
Here are a few outfit suggestions for wrapping up and looking stylish when the temperature heads below freezing. We love cosy boots, longline layers, jeans and smart jackets worn with loose knit scarfs and fleecy gloves. And don’t be afraid of colour on a frosty day, a raspberry hue jumper will cheer you up. Even adding blusher for a rosy cheek or a bright coloured lipstick will get you feeling brighter during this cold snap.

We all like to dress stylishly at the weekend, but we also like to enjoy our downtime and dress for comfort too. Whether you’ve got a shopping trip planned or lunch with friends and family, your weekend wardrobe needs to be flexible, fun and easy to wear.
Layering and accessories are key to a great weekend look, and help to dress up a weekend staple like jeans. These teal straight leg jeans add a splash of colour and mixed with grey tones and black accessories make it perfect for moving from cold winter months to spring. This outfit of snakeskin print blouse, draped grey cardigan and teal jeans is perfect for Apple and Busty shapes as the colour-pop jeans diverts attention from dominant areas and the open cardigan creates a vertical panel which will elongate and streamline your look.
