This is cosy but chic thanks to the bright purple colour. Jersey tops have never been so bright and beautiful.
If you have to cover up a pastel coloured top then a light purple cardigan will complement the colour underneath more than black, which can have a draining effect.
Layer up with a waterfall cardigan which is lightweight enough to fold up into a handbag if you go somewhere warm.
Start off any outfit in style by finding a great fitting bra to enhance your shape. This bra both looks and feels good thanks to the purple which flatters most skin tones.

Good luck ladies!
Come on ladies, let’s be snug and stylish this Autumn! Thankfully, it’s easier than ever before thanks to the new selection of knitwear available at evans. Forget washed, worn and old jumpers that don’t flatter your shape and give your man his cardigan back – we want to look for knitwear that suits us and hugs our curves.
Here’s a round-up of five gorgeous new knitwear items at evans to give you some inspiration of what’s available. Do you have a favourite?
(1) Evans grey 2 in 1 cardigan saves you the effort of mixing and matching. It’s fresh and feminine and the pleat button detail at the front will draw attention to your cleavage. This is wool with the wow factor!
(2) Evans grey fair isle dress can be worn for day or night. It looks gorgeous with knee high boots for smart casual 70s style
(3) The camel pointelle cardigan will keep you warm without washing out your complexion. You always need a black jumper but it’s good to mix it with knitwear in a paler colour like this, which would suit Autumn browns and beiges.
(4) Bright colours help us feel more energetic and positive and a bright pink or red cardigan looks lovely over a plain black dress or top. The pink tab cardigan falls to the mid-thigh so you can wrap it round you as a shield against the autumn and winter blues.
(5) A roll neck jumper looks lovely with most things – you’ll get a lot of wear out of evans black roll neck jumper. It’s cut to fit your shape and the material is warm and soft and designed to last multiple washes. It’s an Autumn must-have!
We can’t control the cold weather but we can make sure we look our best when we’re battling the wind and the rain. It’s time to check out the gorgeous new coats in store and online this Autumn – layering up has never been so lovely! Macs are always popular but this season we’re seeing some warmer coats styles that emphasise different areas of the figure.
Have a look at our top new styles below and tell us what you like most?
A funnel neck coat is super cosy as you can do up the buttons to the top to keep your neck warm. Available at evans in black or red, it looks super smart. And it’s flattering for pear-shapes as it flares out to slim the bottom and hips.
2. Duffle Coat
A duffle coat is flattering for all body shapes as it falls to mid-thigh length, gliding over the stomach and bottom. You’ll feel warm and protected in the soft fabric and effortlessly stylish as all the colours it’s in are classic – red, black and camel.
3. Belted Coat
If you want a coat that you can wear for smart or causal occasions then the black belted coat is so versatile. The belt cinches you in at the waist to slim your shape and the pockets are a treat to the eyes as well as your back as you can fill them up and leave a handbag at home.

In July, I was lucky enough to go behind the scenes as Evans shot the second day of their new Autumn 2011 catalogue. This was a fascinating insight into how the glamorous pictures that sell an image are achieved. For behind the fabulous clothes, beautiful models and scenes of glamour, there are multitudes of people who check every single detail of every single shot in order to ensure that the perfect image is achieved.
There was an air of apprehension and excitement in the Street Studios, as the team were about to create a catalogue that would showcase the new Evans collection, which this year is firmly body led rather than fashion led. Over two days Evans had photographed four beautiful models who represent each of the body shapes Evans has identified as representing its customers pear, apple, hourglass and busty. The models on day two were both stunningly beautiful! Belen and Emily were tall and glossy, but they were also totally approachable and friendly, and it was great to see girls who didn’t conform to the size 10 stereotype as objects of style and beauty.
So, what really happens on a catalogue shoot? To start with, outfits are planned well in advance on mood boards that feature clothing, fabric swabs and keywords for the vibe the photographer is hoping to create. The mood board provides a starting point for a look, but it isn’t the definitive article, necklaces can be changed for something else if the chain is too long, a large handbag can be swapped for a smaller one or a jumper can be in a different colour than that suggested on the original plan.
Barnaby Wilshier, the photographer, took countless photographs of just one look, with the models running, jumping, smiling, leaning forwards and sideways, posing in so many different positions in order to produce that perfect shot. The positioning needs to be just right in order to showcase every individual piece of clothing. Each photograph goes straight through to a computer where it is scrutinised by numerous people, all looking for different things. Is the lighting right? Does the models hair obscure the top? Are the colours popping as they should? Is the vibe correct for the outfit? The wrong face expression, incorrect positioning and partial obscuring of clothing can all ruin a shot.
And what of the clothes – the new body inspired fashions? One word – Amazing! Beautiful curve enhancing outfits- stylish tunics teamed with skinny jeans, gorgeous wide legged trousers (which I think will be a major story this season) warm winter layers evoking the beat looks of Ali McGraw in Love Story, and some really chic smart workwear. I adored the fabulous shoes and boots that were not only wide fitting, but had padded insoles for extra comfort.
With make-up by Angela Davies-Deacon that was polished, flawless but natural, and hair by Jenny Roberts that enhanced the clothing, but didn’t overshadow it, the whole look can be summed up by words taken from the mood boards “sexy, positive, confident, feminine and stylish.” This perfectly summarises what we can expect from Evans this season.
I would like to thank all at Evans for the opportunity to be part of this amazing and fascinating day…and to say can I get my hands on that stunning striped tunic?!

There’s nothing like faux fur to add a touch of luxury to your wardrobe.
Rich, sumptuous and warm, Evans Chocolate faux fur coat is one of the most gorgeous new Autumn arrivals.
The lovely deep brown flatters most skin tones, which is kinder to paler types than a black coat.
But the key thing is it can be worn for day or night. If you’re not teaming it with a party dress and heels for a stylish evening out then you can create some stunning 70s-style looks by wearing it with jeans or trousers and a colourful blouse.
If you need some inspiration, take a look at three gorgeous ways we’ve style the coat. Which one’s your favourite?
Look 1 – Cool And Casual
Evans paisley longline blouse is an easy way to work some 70s style into your wardrobe. It looks great with indigo jeggings and simple but stylish patent bow pumps for an outfit that is comfortable but also cute and contemporary.
Look 2 - Sophisticated Workwear
Look 3 – Smart Early Evening
Straight leg jeans, a floral shirt and stylish ankle boots will help you make a bright entrance in a bar or restaurant. The pintuck blouse is fitted to enhance your shape as it nips in at the waist while the straight leg trousers slim and lengthen the legs and create a neat silhouette for all body shapes. Gorgeous!
Would you like some inspiration from a fashion expert about what to pick for the new season? Senior sales advisor of the bustling Evans store in White City, Michelle Fuyana, was featured in our Autumn catalogue modelling some of her favourite new outfits. She looked amazing!
Michelle says she’s addicted to handbags, she has about 25-30 bags, but what we think is really cool is she looks glamorous and stylish day and night.
Here are three ways to easily create a fabulous look similar to what Michelle modelled in the catalogue.
Wearing a new glamorous top with your favourite jeans and court shoes is an easy way to transform your look. Evans straight leg jeans slim and flatter most body shapes and give you lots of room to move! The snake mesh print top is simply stunning
If you haven’t got time to go home and get changed before you go out in the evening you need a stylish day to night outfit. The simplest way of doing this is to wear jeggings and heels with a pretty top like Evans georgette floral cover up. Add some more accessories for the evening and you’ll feel fabulous all night long.
Can you see yourself wearing one or more of these?

I think versatility is important in any wardrobe, when you make a purchase; you want to make sure that it’s going to work well with garments you already own! The little black dress is a wardrobe staple and an absolute must-have for all women. It will serve you well in all aspects of your life as you can dress it down for a trip to the shops, or up to look stylish at a wedding. The LBD can be taken from work to play and everywhere in between!
Look 1 – Office Chic
I love this look because the red ‘power’ cardi says you mean business, and the belt brings it in closer to the body to define your silhouette. The leather heels are low enough to be comfortable and appropriate for work, while the lacing on the back of the dress adds a fashionable and fun touch to the outfit.
Look 2 – Casual and Fun
This colourful look is perfect for days off. The black of the dress and jacket allow the mixture of hues from the leggings, necklace and ring to really pop! The black lace up booties are so fun and add an awesome edgy vibe to this casual outfit.
Look 3 – Fancy and Fabulous
This is the perfect outfit for a formal affair. The black lace of both the dress and the tights create a luxurious look, and the silver necklace and ring adds an effortless sophistication. The satin heels work well against the texture of the lace and the shine of the silver, and the height of the heel is perfect for giving you some extra height while still allowing you to dance the night away.
