Festival Fashion by Donna

10:17 AM

Hi guys!

I’m Donna, the writer of Curvalicious UK.  I started my blog last year after becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of fashion advice for us ladies with a few more curves.  With most of the websites I looked at, I found that I loved the clothes but knew they wouldn’t suit my body shape. So I decided enough was enough and started my own blog!  I have been pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback I’ve received from my friends and readers alike.  Although I mainly write about fashion, I love writing in general and would love to go on to write about a wider spectrum of subjects. However I may struggle to squeeze anything else in at the moment, as well as running my blog I have a full time job and am a single mum of two beautiful girls . . . . who are already fashion mad!

Anyway, enough about me there are plenty more exciting things to write about, for example; Summer and more importantly Festivals!  I love summer, not only does it bring the best weather, it is also festival season. I adore embracing the festival spirit, spending time with all my favourite people and listening to live music in the great outdoors come rain or shine.  And I love looking fabulous whilst doing it!

Being plus sized doesn’t mean we don’t also want to look our best whilst hanging about in a field. I find the best way to do this is to keep it simple. Firstly you have to think about packing these items, there isn’t exactly a vast supply of plugs for your irons in these fields. Also I recommend avoiding playsuits and jumpsuits . . . . the last thing you want is to be stood naked in a cold and dirty portaloo !

I tend to stick to maxi dresses, maxi skirts, floral ditsy dresses, leggings , denim knee shorts, lightweight tops, wellies, across the body bags and more importantly a rain mac!

Here are a few of my favourite Evans festival pieces at the moment:

Ruby Rocks Yellow Floral Printed Dress This dress can be worn with leggings in rainy weather or without in the sun. Either way this will look fabulous paired with a thick brown belt and a brown across the body bag .

Silver Butterfly Rain Mac Like it or not, a rain mac is an essential festival item! This one is ideal as it is lightweight and will go with anything you choose to wear.

Red Border Print Maxi Dress I love this dress, it’s both casual and glamorous all at the same time and will look gorgeous teamed with some big earrings, chunky bangles, a denim jacket and a huge straw hat.

These denim knee shorts are a key item for any festival as they will look great with both wellies and gladiator sandals. Team them with a lightweight gypsy style top or bandeau and you are on to a winner.

I absolutely adore these coral ditsy wellies. The colour is totally bang on trend and are fun and funky too.

This tan fringe suedette bag is also a must have item. It will look splendid on any festival goer.

Evans have so many items I will be taking to the festivals this year, I can’t fit them all in my post!  Take a look at their festival fashion section for more inspiration. Overall, if you remember the main festival rule of keeping it simple you can’t go wrong.

Are you going to a festival this summer?

Great picks Donna! I especially like the denims and the fringed bag, a staple piece in my festival wardrobe. Hopefully I’ll be visiting a few in Belgium this year.
