My name is Alissa and I am the creator of Stylish Curves the fashion blog for both curvy and plus size women. I started my blog back in June of 2009. I wanted to create a place for young women with a little meat on their bones to be able to find great fashion in their size. I want to show plus size women how to shop outside of the box and to shop for their shape.
As a young plus size woman myself I want to wear styles that are trendy, classic, and edgy, which is why I search the web and pound the pavement to find my readers the best plus size designers and brands out there. I even show you how to get those skinny celebrity looks for your curves.
Enough about me, let’s talk colour blocking. If you don’t know by now, colour blocking is probably THE hottest spring trend out right now! Even self-proclaimed black-a-holics have succumbed to trying out this trend.
The easiest way to get in on the trend is to basically cheat. Buy an item that is already colour blocked for you. Try a colour blocked dress or a top for a no brainer look:

Another way to color block is to mix two bright colors on the top and wear a neutral color on the bottom. To take full advantage of the trend pick rich colors that complement each other like orange and green or purple and red. Use accessories in the same color family to pull the look together.

Try using bright pastel colours to create a colour blocked look. Pastels are easy to match and less likely to look overwhelming when mixing and matching.

Remember, colour blocking is supposed to be fun. It’s also a good way to get the most out of your wardrobe by putting different hues together that you thought would never work. Just be sure to keep shoes and accessories neutral so you look pulled together!
