Spring has sprung, and summer is right around the corner, which means long days, warm nights, lots of sunshine, and a social agenda full of backyard BBQ’s, road trips, family holidays, outdoor festivals, picnics, and days spent cooling off by the water. I absolutely LOVE the comfort and ease of dressing during the summer months, and this season there are 5 breezy key trends that are definite must haves for creating perfect, summer ready outfits, without breaking a sweat.
There is nothing more on trend for the summer season, than the maxi dress, and this go-to style is easy to wear, no matter wear you are heading this summer. The Blue & White Printed Jersey Maxi Dress is an approachable salute to this summer’s tribal trend, and can be perfectly paired with the Lightwash Denim Jacket for a complete look. Compliment these cool blue tones with the silver accents of the Multi Strap Wedge Sandals, Large Stone Cuff Bracelet, and Tribal Style Metal Ring for a must-have summer ensemble.
Gypsy tops are cool and comfortable, and my favorite summer daytime look for a walk in the park, or exploring a new city on holiday. Pair the Khaki Embroidered Front Gypsy Top with the Denim Knee Shorts, and polish off the look with the Gold Oval Engraved Ring, Gold Toepost Sandals and the Tan Fringe Suedette Bag for a wearable outfit all summer long.
White on White
White is HOT for summer, and this head-to-toe trend comes straight off the runway. There is nothing more crisp and fresh than a white on white ensemble with pops of color. Head to the beach in the White Embroidered Top and White Denim Cropped Trouser with the White Sling Back Wedges, and add a pop of shine and color with the Stretch Stone Oval Ring and Beaten Effect Disc Earrings. Summer perfection!
Skirts of all lengths are being seen this summer, but the maxi skirt is again, at the forefront as a seperate that is ideal to mix and match for endless summer ensembles. The Turquoise Tierred Print Skirt makes a statement when complimented with the Stone Cotton Waterfall Bolero, and the Beige Cuff Detail Sandals and Long Seed Bead Necklace are the perfect finishing touches.
The Spring season was saturated with floral prints galore, and this summer we are seeing florals in a bright and electric way. The Turqouise Floral Print Top is a bold and festive summer must-have that is ideal with the staple Denim Crop Jeans and the tonal accents of the Blue Ruffle TBar Sandals, Blue Ruffle Scarf, and the Stone Wire Wrap Ring.
Hello everyone! I’m Nicole from A Well-Rounded Venture a lifestyle blog that focuses on fashion, body acceptance and you know my life! I know many of you understand the challenges of dressing a plus size body and looking fabulous while doing so. For the most part, I don’t attempt to follow the trends and wear what I want, when I want . . . but I am a little excited when one of my favourite trends comes around every spring, florals!
Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of floral clothes and wear them all year round. Ugly floral prints (like your Grandmother’s old couch) hold a special place in my heart but this Beth Ditto floral dress (not ugly!) from Evans last fall is one of my favourites. I’ve been wearing it this spring to put a neutral twist on the typical spring colour palettes. But as a lover of all things colourful, I find the brighter colours hard to resist, especially as we transition into summer.
Floral prints are for everyone and it can be really easy to incorporate into your existing wardrobe. Love floral prints? Go all out! Need to dip your toe in? Take it easy. There are small ways to get your floral fix without going overboard. Here are a few of my choices currently available at Evans . . .
These cotton floral sundresses are a great spring and summer staple. The retro silhouettes have been really popular and look great on everyone ! I couldn’t choose between these three dresses, the prints vary in size and colour but aren’t overpowering. They can be easily dressed up or down with the right accessories. I would wear them with sunglasses, a floppy hat and sandals for the beach or maybe a cardigan, heels, bangles and a clutch for a night out. See? Easy !
Too much floral for you ? Don’t worry, there are plenty of pieces for a smaller dose, from accessories to shoes. Some of the most exciting floral pieces offered by Evans this season are the variety of shoes. Look at the possibilities !
What are your floral favourites this season ?
These stunning shoes are available in a choice of two colour mixes and will be on sale in evans stores and online from the start of June.
Choose from black, pink and silver or beige, cream and gold, both embellished with gold studs to add a touch of rock chic glamour to your shoe cupboard.
Priced at just £27, they’re all you need for the long, hot summer days and nights. Both look lovely with your jeans or summer dress for a cool, casual look for day but they’re sophisticated enough to wear with a maxi dress or trendy harem pants for summer cocktail parties and special occasions.
What would you wear them with?
Glee actress Amber Riley never fails to wow us with her beautiful, bright colour coordinated fashion choices.
Come rain or shine, the star of the award winning American TV show causes flashbulbs to go wild when she turns up to events in her exquisite outfits. And her fun and up-beat photoshoots liven up magazines, just look at the dazzling summer outfit she wore for a shoot in Essence magazine’s March issue.
Look closely at Amber’s outfit and you’ll see it’s ideal for a summer holiday. It’s floaty and lightweight so you’ll keep fresh and cool and It won’t take up much space in your suitcase.
With lots of accessories, it echoes the season’s top trend, boho chic and it’s suitable for wearing both day and night. If you wear wedges then you can stay cool and comfortable during the day but you’ll still have some height to elongate your frame and shape your legs for night-time elegance. Genius!
Do you like the actress’s sense of style? If so, you can easily find clothes to recreate her look in evans stores and online.
The Lovedrobe beaded tunic top is vibrant and fresh and looks fabulous with cropped trousers, leggings and shorts, it’s so versatile.
It looks even better when you accessorise. Stick with the boho beach babe vibe and opt for wooden and shell inspired jewellery rather than brassy silver or gold. The lime shell disc necklace and the angular wooden bangle are good examples of this. For classic wedges that you can wear from day to night you can’t beat evans black sling back wedges.
Have you stocked up on any colourful summer fashion recently? What have you been buying?
My name is Alissa and I am the creator of Stylish Curves the fashion blog for both curvy and plus size women. I started my blog back in June of 2009. I wanted to create a place for young women with a little meat on their bones to be able to find great fashion in their size. I want to show plus size women how to shop outside of the box and to shop for their shape.
As a young plus size woman myself I want to wear styles that are trendy, classic, and edgy, which is why I search the web and pound the pavement to find my readers the best plus size designers and brands out there. I even show you how to get those skinny celebrity looks for your curves.
Enough about me, let’s talk colour blocking. If you don’t know by now, colour blocking is probably THE hottest spring trend out right now! Even self-proclaimed black-a-holics have succumbed to trying out this trend.
The easiest way to get in on the trend is to basically cheat. Buy an item that is already colour blocked for you. Try a colour blocked dress or a top for a no brainer look:
Colour Block Look 1
Another way to color block is to mix two bright colors on the top and wear a neutral color on the bottom. To take full advantage of the trend pick rich colors that complement each other like orange and green or purple and red. Use accessories in the same color family to pull the look together.
Colour Block Look 2
Try using bright pastel colours to create a colour blocked look. Pastels are easy to match and less likely to look overwhelming when mixing and matching.
Colour Block Look 3
Remember, colour blocking is supposed to be fun. It’s also a good way to get the most out of your wardrobe by putting different hues together that you thought would never work. Just be sure to keep shoes and accessories neutral so you look pulled together!

Have you bought any tribal inspired items yet?
What are you waiting for? Tribal prints and embellishments are rocking the runways and recent catwalks have been awash with bright, bold prints, beaded fringes, chunky necklaces and bangles galore.
These looks have now made it into evans stores and online and there is so much choice there’s guaranteed to be a tribal inspired look to suit everyone’s taste.
Here’s how to wear tribal look with evans from day to night . . .
The tribal look is brilliant for creating a cool but chic daytime look. Evans rust embellished neck vest is loose and easy to wear but the stunning colour and embellished neck detail makes it seem as if you’ve made a real effort. It’s cut long at the sides so it skims the thighs and hips and you can wear it with black crop jeans for a day of running errands. Keep your feet fresh and comfortable in some stunning black cuff detail sandals – cuffs are a key part of the tribal trend. Another vital element of tribal fashion is jewellery so add the finishing touch with coral teardrop earrings and a brown organic bangle.
Outfit 2 – Ladies Who Lunch
Tribal fashion contains lots of details like beads and sequins so it’s great if you need to put together a polished look for a summer wedding, garden party or formal occasion. Start with a chocolate beaded maxi dress, which will elongate your figure. It looks stunning with other tonal items like the stone cotton waterfall bolero and the camel plait detail wedge sandals. And don’t forget the accessories! Stay beautiful and brown with the shell multirow set jewellery and the pretty indian bangle set.
Outfit 3 – Dinner Date
For a day to night look, tribal prints can be dressed up or down. Evans black embroidered top has a gorgeous embellished neckline and is slightly cinched in at the waist, falling to the hips in an A-line shape. This top has side ties to nip you in at the waist, meaning it works well with leggings or harem pants. If there’s a chance you’ll be wearing it from day to night then choose a cute but comfy pair of trousers like the collection suedette harem. It can be worn with ballerina shoes for the day and then tan block heel sandals for night. Finish with evans lovely large faceted stone necklace and the studded metal tear earrings in bronze.
Is there anything stopping the gorgeous record-breaking chart-topper Adele?
Every time she sings, she puts her heart and soul into her performance and the beautiful star’s appearance on BBC’s Jools Holland show must have sent shivers down the spine of the audience members. Even listening to her performance of new single Take It All it on the TV sounds incredible.
The stunning singer’s voice has struck a chord with music lovers around the world as seven weeks after her album 21 was released it was certified as going seven times platinum with UK sales in excess of 2.1 million. And she’s now at the top of the US album charts too. What a fantastic inspiration for women everywhere!
With such success and adoration from fans and music critics, it’s no wonder Adele exudes a satisfied, happy glow. But she’s stayed true to her original sense of style, which is 1960s influenced, chic and elegant.
With her glossy red hair, Adele makes a simple black outfit look stunning. Firstly, she finds clothes that fit her figure and secondly, she picks statement accessories that sparkle so she stands out like a true star.
If you look closely at the outfit she wore on Jools Holland, you’ll see you can find similar clothes and accessories from evans.
The evans black prom dress has a fitted bodice that flares out into an A’line skirt to skim the hips and flatter pear shapes. It’s sleeveless but it works well with a black short cardigan to cover upper arms. There’s nothing like a beautiful pair of heels to make you walk taller and feel more elegant and evans block heel bow detail courts are pretty but not so high that they’re painful. Add the finishing touch with some interesting accessories like evans wire wrap ring the molten teardrops earrings
