We are pleased to introduce you to Jade, the author of Jade by the Sea. Jade tells us about what inspires her to write and lets us in on her favourite pieces for Spring.
Tell us about yourself and how you started blogging?
My name is Jade Shackcloth and I love fashion. I started blogging when I physically couldn’t fit another dress in my wardrobe. I wanted to change my style and wear those items I never had the confidence to wear before. I love shopping, not necessarily buying but seeking new outfit inspiration or how to change an item I already own! I have a weak spot for anything polka dot, floral or sequinned and I’ll let you in on a secret, I never wear trousers!
Tell us more about Jade by the Sea?
Jade by the Sea started as a blog where I could write about things I dreamed of doing, such as becoming an interior designer or a fashion journalist. I never expected people to read what I was writing, let alone receive emails from other ladies saying I’ve inspired them! Writing Jade by the Sea has also made me realised I have more skirts and cardigans than the entire population needs! My blogging has helped me become more confident, I now don’t care if people think I shouldn’t wear a certain item or outfit. On the other hand, it’s wonderful to see what my readers think about my outfit or style.
What advice would you give to other aspiring bloggers?
Write about things that interest you and don’t be afraid to have an opinion. I don’t just write about fashion and beauty. I like to write about subjects close to my heart. After losing my left eye to cancer I regularly try to raise awareness on my blog. Don’t be scared and don’t worry what others might think. It took me some time to tell my family that I write a blog as I didn’t think they’d understand.
What are you most looking forward to about spring?
Easter! I’ve given up chocolate for lent and I’m doing quite well! Aside from that, I am looking forward to being able to wear a cardigan over my dress and not a bulky coat. It’s the most amazing feeling to walk out in the spring sun with just a cardigan on. Let’s not forget spring fashion! It’s when all the best floral prints come out and I love the nautical look.
What are your top 3 Spring/Summer items from Evans?
I’ve been sneaky and chosen four items, but every girl needs accessories!
This is such a versatile top but when I tried it on it’s much more like a tunic/dress and looks amazing with leggings. The monochrome print means you can wear this with anything. It’s smart enough for work and can be dressed down for a date or shopping trip.
2.) Max C Red Frill Detail Dress
I love red! Wearing a bright colour puts a spring in my step and makes others smile. This would be great for a date with the girls or your partner. It can go from day to evening with the help of the right accessories. Cinch the dress in with a tan or black belt and that’s one beautiful figure right there!
These shoes go with everything thanks to their colour. The bow adds a nice little touch and can really change what would otherwise be a plain outfit.
This bracelet is gorgeous and has the prettiest matching necklace too. This would go really well with the navy dress and add a pop of colour!
Now, to inherit some money so I can buy all of these gorgeous pieces! Which item is your favourite?
