My Valentine’s Date outfit ideas by Kellie

It has been fabulous but being a big girl in a size zero world means getting very creative and tracking down what’s hot. I adore Evans and am SO glad they deliver to the US! As Evans are creating a Facebook gallery of Valentine’s looks I thought I would share my favourite outfits with you.
Whether you’re headed out on a romantic date or a fun night out with the girls, Valentine’s Day is more than a day to say I love you… it is a great reason to dress up! We often go straight for the typical red dress but there are some other really great ways to go about looking fabulous and fashion forward. Evans has an incredible selection of options beyond the red dress that are sure to warm the blood of your Valentine or make you stand out from the crowd (and possibly meet someone new!) I’ve put together a few complete looks to make choosing what to wear a little easier.
The traditional date outfit
Whether you are being treated to dinner, a show or drinks with your date, this first look is perfect for a romantic evening. This navy dress with ribbon waist detail and sheer sleeve is both sophisticated and sweet. Dress it up with a fantastic floral headband and lots of sparkle! The sparkly heels are pretty dazzling and in my experience guys check out our shoes much more than we think and he’s sure to notice and love these! The sequined purse and rhinestone bunny ring complete the look. Navy and lavender is one of my favourite colour combinations, it’s unexpected and looks incredible.
The less conventional date outfit
I love this look for a less conventional date night like a concert for example! These pieces are comfy and easy but look cool, chic and polished together. As much as we love to look to black for easy dressing, mixing patterns and textures make for a much more dynamic outfit. The Black Pocket Woven Tee is so much more than a t-shirt; its sheer sleeves really dress it up. Paired with the Animal Print Harem pants and studded peep toe heels and snake skin ring, it gives a great rocker chic feel, of which I’m personally obsessed at the moment!
A night out with the girls
No date? No problem! Get glammed up and go out with your other single friends. A gorgeous top is essential; I love this drapey Grecian tunic. Grab a pair of boyfriend jeans (or no boyfriend jeans!), a great bag, earrings that dangle and heels. Don’t forget the heel shields, a night out with your girlfriends is sure to include dancing!
And no Valentine’s Day is complete without lingerie. If you’re hanging with the girls, throw on a sexy bra and knicker set under your outfit and hit the town feeling sexy and confident with a sexy secret just for you!

Get Queen Latifah’s look!
The first lady of hip hop Queen Latifah always looks royally magnificent at red carpet events. In her flattering dresses, figure-hugging jumpsuits and statement jewellery, she’s an inspiration for anyone needing to dress to impress for Valentine’s Day or another special occasion.
Her Majesty, whose real name is Dana Elaine Owens, most recently took centre stage at The People’s Choice Awards in Hollywood as she hosted the star-studded ceremony with How I Met Your Mother actor Neil Patrick.
The pressure was on as it was the first A list event of 2011, but Her Royal Highness out-sparkled most of the award winners in a stunning black outfit and a gorgeously decadent silver necklace.
She shows all you need to dazzle on a night out is one key piece and some fabulous jewellery. There’s no need to complicate things if you have an item of clothing that hugs every curve.

How to wear...Checks!
For a cool, casual and colourful twist to your wardrobe, a checked shirt sits squarely at the top of the list of key pieces for Spring.
It can be worn with trousers or skirts, on its own or layered over vests or plain tops.
The same shirt could help you look laid-back and relaxed as well as fun and flirty depending on what you wear it with.
If comfort is your main motivation then wear a checked shirt with some chino trousers and black bow ballerinas. The shirred check shirt combines cool purple and berry tones while the shirred detail adds some shape to the shirt for a slimming effect on your shoulders.
If you want to look smart and bright then there’s a stunning red multi-coloured western check shirt at evans for £25. It has a princess seam detail for a flattering fit and you can wear it on its own or open over a white vest top. Keep up the cowgirl theme with jeans and brown weave ankle boots.
