Your Guide to Getting Dressed on the Go
With the hustle bustle of the holiday season officially upon us, and our already hectic schedules being even more jam packed with days and nights full of celebration and festivities, it is essential to have a figure-flattering wardrobe that is fun, festive and full of sparkle and shine that you can put together on the go for any occasion.
Whether you are heading to an office party, meeting the girls for drinks, going on a date, decorating the house, holiday shopping, or traveling to be with family and friends, putting outfits together should be easy and effortless without compromising the glamour and detail that we all love.
Getting dressed on the go can be simple as long as you are prepared with a closet full of versatile go-to items that are best for your body type and represent your personal style, that you can mix and match with the season’s greatest trend pieces and statement accessories to create quick, easy to wear ensembles that are appropriate for the season.
Dresses are a serious no brainer for creating a festive look on the run, and in the colder months, there are lots of great ways to make them work in order to stay warm. Choose a dress with embellishment and/or a saturated jewel tone color, pair it with a great textured tight, a tall pair of boots or heels, and warm coat, and you are out the door looking fabulous.
The little black dress (LBD) is an essential staple piece that is a great option for any occasion of celebrating. Every woman should have AT LEAST one great fitting and figure-flattering LBD that you can pull out in a cinch. Choose a LBD that has a splash of interesting detail but is still versatile and can be styled to cater to a specific occasion.
Maxi dresses are another great option for the season that can be worn with ease for several different occasions. Pair an embellished maxi dress with a great pair of heels, faux fur jacket and some great statement accessories, and that’s all you need to look your best.
One-piece jumpers are probably the easiest item to wear for the season. They are appropriate for several occasions of celebrating and they will keep you warm. Pair a jumper with beautiful accessories, and a hot pair of heels and you cannot go wrong. Also, make sure you are wearing the proper undergarments the proper undergarments.
I highly recommend wearing waist to ankle shape wear underneath a jumper to create a smooth silhouette and add extra warmth. Adding a shawl or faux fur vest is also a great way to create a super festive ensemble that will look glamorous and keep you warm.
Tunic/Vests and leggings:
Tunics/vests or long-line tops and leggings are my absolute favorite go-to items for the season.
My favorite way to wear these versatile tops is with a pair of sleek dark denim and a pair of tall boots, and a faux leather blazer.
To create a dresser ensemble with a tunic/vest, choose a pair of dark leggings or jeggings, add a belt, and grab a pair of heels and switch up your accessories to add a little more bling.
Accessories and other details- never underestimate the power of accessorizing, especially when you have limited time to get ready. Hats, gloves, scarves, shawls, and jewelry are all simple items that you can add to your ensemble to create more polish, sparkle, and texture, and give a drab ensemble that little something extra it needs to help you look polished. You can use accessories to turn an outfit from day to night, or to simply add a bit of bling for a more festive ensemble. If you are going straight from the office to a party, changing your accessories, hair and makeup can give you a completely different look and you can easily throw these items in your purse when you are on your way out the door.
When you look great, you feel great, and as long as you use these tools to put together you looks, you can take a deep breath, enjoy the season and focus your energy on what is truly important without getting bogged down in the unnecessary drama that comes with the question What am I going to wear. Happy holidays and happy shopping!
