‘Tis the season to be  glamorous!  The holiday season is a great occasion to add some glitz and glam to your wardrobe.  From sequins to velvet, there are so many fabric and clothing options to make a statement for any holiday event.  For a curvy fashionista to look her best, it is important to not shine as bright as your Christmas tree, but instead to add the perfect punch of holiday zest to your looks.  Look picture perfect this holiday season, as Evans has all the latest holiday trends!

Sequins are a staple when it comes to adding the perfect shimmer and shine to your look during the holidays.  Just like other flashy holiday fabrics, sequins can be overbearing and should be worn in a way that it doesn’t clash with other pieces of your outfit.  The sasperilla sequin dress featured below is a great example of adding splashes of sequin to give you a polished, yet stand-out look.  The hint of sequin on the asymmetrical shoulder and over the bust draws the eye to the upper torso.  This is great for pear-shaped women who may want to take the focus off of their lower body.  Don’t forget to use jewellery to complement and lightly accessorize your sequin look for all of your holiday festivities.
Sequined accessories are eye-catching and are perfect for adding just a splash of shimmer.  They can be incorporated into a number of outfits, for both day and night.  The sequin clip top purse, for example, can jazz up any basic look by giving it a pop.  It can also complement a neutral or light-toned outfit very well.  Similarly, our sequin cuff sandal is great for the evening, as it adds life to any boring or solid-colored outfit.  For a more comfortable option, try our pewter sequin ballerinas.  Wear this flat with tights and a bright colored tank for a casual daytime look or throw on a blazer to take your look from day to night.  Sequined accessories can be mix and matched with your outfits to make you sparkle like a star this holiday season!

There is no denying that velvet can look outdated and unflattering.  It can be a tricky fabric to wear, as its texture and thickness can add bulk to a curvy figure.  However, velvet has made a powerful comeback this holiday season and has been seen in many modern cuts and designs.  The Lovedrobe devore velvet dress, shown below, uses velvet in a very trendy way.  This dress in an ideal choice for women with a pear shape, as it drapes beautifully on the lower body.
We all know that heavy holiday meals call for stretch and comfort.  A trendy yet giving holiday item is Evans’ crushed velvet maxi skirt.  The crushed velvet texture gives the skirt a cool effect, while the nature of the fabric is great for staying warm.  Pair it with a casual top or a fancy blouse, depending on if you to play this piece up or down.  You can wear it with heels or flats, making it a very versatile piece.
The black velvet bolero is a chic item to add to your outfit, if you don’t feel comfortable going completely bare on the shoulder and arms.  It can dress up and complement so many different sleevless options, making it a must-have for the season.

Lace is perfect for giving you a classy yet sexy look for the holidays. It is a great fabric choice, as you can use it to conceal what you don’t want to reveal without looking too covered up. You can use Evans’ grey all over lace vest to show hints of skin, depending on what you layer it with underneath. The lace that drapes over the sides of the hips is very flattering for any pear-shaped woman. Wear it with slacks for a casual feel or with a nice skirt for a night on the town.
The frill vest with lace yolk featured below is a fashionable option, as the lace frills adds a youthful element. From gloves to skirts, there are endless options when it comes to lace. Mix and match this fun and flirty fabric to create the perfect holiday look for you!
Animal Print

After being featured on many designer runways for the Fall/Winter season, animal prints have crawled their way into the holiday season as well. Animal prints are a great option for curvy women but can be tricky to wear. Make sure to use this print in a manner that flatters you, instead of it being distracting to the eye. This type of busy print looks the best when it is used as the single statement piece of your outfit. For instance, if you wear Studio NY’s leopard shift dress, tone down the rest of your outfit by pairing it with solid-colored tights and light jewelry. This dress is form-fitting with full sleeves, giving it a youthful and fashionable feel.
Evan’s has done a great job at mixing an animal print with sequin with their jewelled neck animal top, without it clashing or being over-the-top. This piece is less form-fitting, as the fabric is giving around the stomach and hip area. Also, the sheer, ¾ balloon-sleeves are great for women who want to flatter their upper arms. Remember that animal prints are ageless and will help add some heat to the cold winter weather!
