We got involved with a spook-tacular pumpkin carving competition at Evans Head Office.
There was a pumpkin dressed like Beth Ditto, a pump-King with a crown who ruled over an empire of pumps and a pumpkin served on a tray with vegetables like a hog roast feast. The winner was a pimped up pumpkin studded with sequins and garnished with a feather on it’s head.
Frighteningly good! Are you doing anything freakishly different to celebrate?
‘ I’m keeping warm today on my way to the office and meetings with this evans faux fur collar coat. It’s the perfect compliment this pretty red vintage dress for Friday night drinks. ‘ We think Rosie is looking gorgeous today. What’s been your favourite Rosie outfit from the week ?
Greetings, everyone! This is Nicolette reporting from sunny (and excessively warm, for the end of October!) Los Angeles, California. After a day of cruising throughout the city and hitting some of LA’s best shops, I headed out to the opening event of Sonsi Full Figured Fashion Weekend, wearing my Evans Grey Denim Jeggings with cute heels and a leopard-print blazer. The kick-off event, Curves for a Cure: A Celebration of Pink, served as a fundraiser to promote Breast Cancer Research and awareness; October is Breast Cancer Awareness month here in the States. To help raise funds, there was a silent auction that included beautiful swimwear pieces from New York-based designer Monif C. and jewellery designer Fennimas. The room was filled with a diverse, beautiful, and enthusiastic group of men and women from across the country . . . including plus size models, magazine editors, fashion designers, bloggers, and industry veterans like FFFWeek host Gwen Devoe. R&B singer Kelly Price also gave a heartfelt speech about her own experience as a full-figured woman and her relationship to fashion. Her speech was met with resounding empathy and appreciation, as many women in the audience were easily able to relate. Her speech included a call to action, asking that consumers demand more and better to meet their needs.
Of course, tonight was also a fun and exciting opportunity to meet many of the women who I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the last couple of years, including some great bloggers and models!
Tonight was only the beginning, but if the enthusiasm of the kick-off event carries through tomorrow’s series of panels and Saturday’s fashion show, I’m confident that Los Angeles’ first FFFWeek will be a success!
Can’t wait to fill you in on all the great events going on tomorrow and Saturday!

Fuller Figured Fashion Week is a 3-day fashion event, supported by a range of plus size brands including Evans, taking place in Los Angeles between October 28-30 2010. The event is for plus-size designers, boutiques and retailers to show-case their products to an audience of fashion enthusiasts and journalists as well as the general public. The collections will cater to every taste and budget from urban to couture designs.
Full Figured Fashion Week was created so that full-figured fashion, models, and designers get the attention that they deserve in the fashion industry. Originally based in New York, FFFW is now being shown in Los Angeles and is looking to expand into other cities. FFFW will bring the latest designs of the hottest, brightest, and freshest talent-including the models that are redefining plus size fashion to the plus-size community.
Full Figured Fashion Week will open the festivities with Curves for a Cure: A Celebration in Pink silent charity auction hosted by full figured R&B artist Kelly Price. Designers within the community have donated their designs for auction and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Los Angeles chapter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Look out for regular FFFW blog posts during the event, brought to you direct from LA by Stateside fashion blogger Nicolette Mason
X Factor star Mary Byrne popped into our Evans Marble Arch store yesterday. Mary had been filming for the Xtra Factor, selecting her favourite pieces in store. See her exclusive interview where she talks about life in the x factor house and her love for Robbie Williams . . .
‘ This evans military jacket will take you from day to night in style. I’m in meetings all day so after work I’ll be swapping my Doc Martens for heels . I’ve styled the oufit with my grey acid wash jeggings and this gorgeous vintage handbag. I love the military and vintage look, they always go well together. ’
Rosie’s been turning heads with this season’s must have jacket . . . the aviator. ‘ I think when you’re wearing a statement jacket like the aviator then it’s best keep the rest of your outfit simple. I’ve achieved this look by styling it with a knitted maxi dress and plain black wedges.’
